Who We Are
Based in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, on unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Anishnaabeg territory, we are part of the climate and environmental justice movement following the lead of the most impacted communities to ensure a liveable climate for future generations.
Through empowering communities, we challenge political systems that do not align with an equitable and healthy planet. We participate in the process of reconciliation and decolonization, and support First Nations, Métis and Inuit self-determination.
We work in a proactive way towards collectively-defined goals, while understanding the necessity for reactionary mobilization in climate organizing, particularly in the national capital.
What is Climate Justice?
Climate Justice is a vision to centre justice in our fight against climate change.

-
Climate Justice centres justice by recognizing that all forms of oppression are linked and that those who are the most impacted by climate change are often the least responsible for its causes.

-
Climate Justice seeks a transformation of the systems and institutions that create the oppression and inequality of the climate crisis and our current world.

-
Climate Justice takes leadership from Indigenous and frontline communities that have been resisting and leading the fight against climate change.

-
Climate Justice recognizes that intersectionality is central to the fight against climate change and that many forms of justice must be present in our movement.
Our Organizing Principles
Indigenous and Frontline Leadership
-
Work in solidarity with Indigenous and frontline communities who are resisting fossil fuel expansion and other colonial projects, including the Algonquin Anishnaabeg Peoples, upon whose territory we organize.
-
To the best of our abilities, honour local Indigenous protocol in our organizing and mobilizing efforts and work in collaboration with members of the local Indigenous community.

Intersectionality
-
Prioritize intersectional and inclusionary approaches to organizing in our fight for climate justice, recognizing how various identities and experiences influence a person’s lived reality and experience of climate change (i.e. race, gender, class, dis/ability, etc).
-
Work in partnership with progressive and justice-oriented movements (i.e. labour, human rights, feminist, anti-racist, affordable housing, anti-poverty, etc.) in recognition of the interlocking systems of oppression present in our society. We commit to anti-oppressive frameworks in our organizing.

Inclusivity
-
Encourage participation by all members, recognizing the diversity of abilities, knowledge, and experiences amongst group members. Encourage skill- and knowledge-sharing amongst the group, in order to promote learning & growth.
-
Encourage compassion for one’s self, others, one’s community, and the planet.

Nonviolence
-
Commit to a non-violent organizing approach while recognizing the inherent violence of climate change and on-going colonization and the effects on different communities.
.
Accountability
-
Hold ourselves, each other and our community accountable to justice, equity, and the above principles.
